The Emperor Raja Laut liveaboard is a Dutch Schooner style yacht built-in 2005 with tropical hardwood. ‘Raja Laut’ in Indonesian means ‘King of the Sea’, and guests can expect to be treated like royalty onboard. This beautiful schooner takes no more than 12 divers on their excursions, yet they have 7 crew and 3 dive guides on board to provide exquisite personal service to guests. The Emperor Raja Laut offers 7 to 12-night excursions in Raja Ampat, Banda Sea and Komodo.

Features

Timeless styling and beautiful furnishings feature throughout the yacht to create an elegant and comfortable atmosphere. The lounge area, on the same level as the cabins, is fully air-conditioned with a 49″ HD flat screen, movie, music & book library, board games and mini-bar.

On the stunning teak upper deck are multiple beds for sunbathing or lounging, both in the sun and under shade, and a central dining table where meals are served alfresco under a large awning.

We think…

Great itineraries and a fantastic experience with only 12 divers on board. Ideal for group charter and for divers who want to have a smaller but luxurious liveaboard.

Komodo itineraries start and end in Labuan Bajo. Banda Sea itineraries start and end in Ambon. Raja Ampat itineraries start in Waisai and end in Sorong. Clients will be met at Sorong Airport and accompanied to the ferry port with a member of the Emperor Raja Laut team, for the 2 hour speedboat ferry from Sorong to Waiasai which costs IDR 200,000 (~USD15).

Emperor Raja Laut departs from a number of different destinations depending on itinerary.

Raja Laut’s interior spaces are built from selected tropical hardwoods and accommodate 12 guests in 6 standard cabins, which are below deck. Each cabin has individually controlled air-conditioning, fan, en suite bathroom, a table, a mirror, closet and mini safe. Three cabins come with a queen size bed and 3 cabins have bunk beds. Good news for taller people, the cabin ceilings are pretty high 2.05 to 2.15 meters.

The diving is done from two large RIBs (Zodiacs), both to get you to the dive sites swiftly, and also to ensure precise entry and exit points. They have 2 dive guides, all safety equipment, Lifelines and SMB’s on-board, free of charge. Nitrox is available for Nitrox certified divers.

As currents can be strong, the Emperor Raja Laut requires divers to be certified to Advanced Open Water or equivalent with at least 30 logged dives. If you are Open Water or equivalent you will be required to take part in the Advanced Open Water course on board.

Dive Regions

The Emperor Raja Laut visits different regions in Indonesia during the best times of the year for each area. This provides the optimal dive experience whether you are diving in Raja Ampat, Komodo National Park in Flores or on a trip visiting Ambon or the Banda Islands. In most of Indonesia water temperatures are between 27°C (81°F) and 30°C (86°F) all year round; but note that in the south of Komodo, it is cooler, and a 5 mm (1/5 inch) semi-dry is recommended for this region.

  • Komodo National Park: 7 – 11-night trips: July to October
  • Raja Ampat: 7 – 12-night trips: December to May
  • Raja Ampat & Banda Islands: 12-night trips: May & October
  • Banda Sea: 11-night trips: October

  • I've been using these guys since 2008, and every single trip has been awesome. Only thing I need to worry is to get to airport in time. They have wide experience of dive destinations and there's always an option to pick. Strong recommendation!

  • The team at Diveplanit were tremendous help for my recent trip to Palau. The trip was a bit last minute, and bookings were filling up, so I appreciated Claire’s patience and first-hand knowledge as we tried to find the right combination of dates, flights and operators. Unsurprisingly, the trip was spectacular and ticked off multiple bucket list experiences.

  • I have been using Diveplanit for several years now and just recently on a liveaboard trip to Komodo where there was a change of port arrival and Claire helped with the air travel changes and all went smoothly. Superb trip and organisation. Highly recommend.

  • Michelle is a legend. I didn't know how difficult it could be to organise travel and diving in Vanuatu! Having been there, I can only wonder at the organisation and care that went into making my trip special. There was even a cancelled flight that meant a rearrangement of activities on a couple of days. But it all went seamlessly. I would highly recommend Diveplanit.

    Robert E

  • I'd like to thank the crew from Diveplanit, great communication and organisation. The Ocean Divers in Oakleigh, so welcoming and helpful. The Odyssey boat crew, catering and dive group, best holiday / adventure ever.

  • Everything went like clockwork - and Uepi exceeded expectations on all levels.

    Carolyn M

  • Michelle was fantastic in helping with my recent PNG excursion. I got straightforward and detailed advice, and nothing was too much trouble. I had some package tweaks after committing to the initial trip, but the changes were no problem. There's no question whom I'll contact for my next South Pacific itinerary.

    Jessica B

  • Had a fabulous trip diving at Ningaloo, all organised from the other side of the world by Claire at Diveplanit. When the airline cancelled my flights and I would’ve been stranded, she rescheduled them for me on a Sunday! That’s 7-star rating! 🙏 🥰

    Sarah C
