We have a winner – Dive Week Holiday for Two on Lord Howe Island

We have a winner of our Dive Week Competition! The dive site name that Carolyn Hampson came up with was Lothlórien which is the fairest realm of the Elves remaining in Middle-earth, in J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings stories. It also plays an important part as the Elven centre of resistance against Sauron and is a symbol for the Elves’ aesthetics of preservation.

Lord Howe Island is well known as a Marine Park and anyone who has been there knows the locals’ mind-set on the need for marine conservation. Lothlórien also represents a space ‘out of time’ and having personally dived that site – it is like some place that time forgot.

So well done Carolyn – I’m sure you will enjoy diving it.

All you runners up, don’t forget: you may have missed out on the major prize but thanks to Pinetrees Lodge you still have a $500 voucher towards a Dive Week accommodation package at Pinetrees Lord Howe Island!

Contact the Sydney Pinetrees Travel Office on 1800 226 142 or info@pinetrees.com.au to redeem your voucher and take the first steps towards your next Dive Adventure!  Conditions apply and spaces are limited so get in touch soon to secure your spot.

  1. I cried when Simon called me to say that I’d won. I have been to Lord Howe twice before, both times the weather was unsuitable for diving or even a boat trip out to balls Pyramid. To think that we will get to stay at Pinetrees whist diving the sights at Lord Howe is like a beautiful dream, I cant wait! Thank you so much for liking my suggestion, I can hardly wait to see it, just be warned I also cry underwater when the beauty overwhelms me. Thankyou so so much xx
