Gangga Divers Diving Center at the Lotus Bungalows, Candidasa, is both an ideal place to dive most of Bali’s best dive sites to the south-east, as well as enjoy a Balinese holiday.

Lotus Bungalows are an ideal place to stay when exploring Bali above and below the water’s surface. This small and comfortable oceanfront resort, located on the south-east coast of Bali, is situated in the town of Candidasa, just north of Padang Bai – the main port to the north. The islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida (as well as the Gilis), are easily accessed from here.

The town is an ideal starting point for many excursions around the mystic island of Bali. Lotus Bungalows are beautifully located at the water’s edge. The transfer from Denpasar airport to Candidasa takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

The small cozy resort has 6 standard and 14 superior rooms. All rooms are comfortably furnished and include air conditioning, minibar, telephone, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, safety deposit box and a private terrace with beautiful view, bathroom with hairdryer and hot water. The superior rooms have a lovely Balinese open-air bathroom.

A large swimming pool overlooking the Lombok Strait invites you daily to relax and unwind and to enjoy the cool breeze of the ocean.

The restaurant serves a wide choice of international and local cuisine centred on fish dishes as might be expected from a tropical island resort.

Traditional Balinese massage and spa treatments are offered and usually take place in your own room or on the Bale at the pool area. Yoga classes can be arranged on request in the new Yoga Studio. Various land tours can be booked at the hotel.

Free WiFi is accessible in public areas, at reception and at the dive centre. The resort has reliable mobile phone reception.

Gangga Divers, which operate five PADI Five Star Dive Resorts in total, operate to the highest international standards and personal service. The Diving Centre is ideally located to reach some of the best dive sites in Bali, including Candidasa’s Tepekong Canyon, Tulamben’s USAT Liberty Wreck and Padang Bai’s dive sites.

The dive centre is located at the premises of the Lotus Bungalows. In good weather, the dive boat is reachable via the resort’s jetty, and in rougher weather, the dive trips start close to the more sheltered port of Padang Bai, just 15 minutes away by minibus.

Dive Centre & Service

The dive centre is well known for good service and individual attention. Daily dive trips with 2 or 3 dives are offered. The dive sites in the south are visited with one of their two comfortable dive boats. Dive sites in the east of Bali like Tulamben and Amed can be reached by road and the diving is conducted off the beach.

Two fiberglass dive boats for max. 12 divers are operated by Gangga Divers Bali. Diving is done in groups of max. 4 divers with 1 divemaster. The boats are well equipped, each has its own toilet, safety equipment such as radio, life jackets, first aid kit and DAN Jumbo Oxygen twin tanks. Both 12 and 15-liter tanks with both INT and DIN valves are available. Nitrox (32%) is available free of charge to Nitrox certified divers, but only in 12-liter tanks. Well maintained rental equipment and various PADI dive courses are available.

Road transfer for shore-based dive is in air-conditioned minibusses with room for 8 divers. If space is available, snorkelers are welcome.

Try a MK VI Poseidon Rebreather

Rebreather diving is now available at Gangga Divers Bali at Lotus Bungalows. Gangga Divers is the first and only Poseidon MK VI rebreather facility in Bali. The dive centre offers a PADI Poseidon rebreather course with Dive Centre manager Jan Bebe, the only in-house rebreather instructor in Bali. Dedicated rebreather diving for Poseidon MKVI certified divers is also provided. Sofno Dive 797 and consumables are available for purchase. Rebreather cylinders and bail out cylinders are available for rental.

Dive areas

Diving is offered in Bali’s south, at reefs close to Candidasa, Padang Bay, the islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. Also, the dive sites in the East, such as the USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben, Amed or Seraya Secret are visited. The small house reef is accessible by a jetty but only when the sea is calm.

The dive sites in the south often have quite cool water with temperatures here sinking to 20°C (68°F), and appropriate wetsuits should be worn. Some of the highlights here are the Manta Point, south of Nusa Penida Island and possible encounters with Ocean Sunfish, known locally as Mola Mola in Bali.
