Murex Manado Dive Resort in North Sulawesi offers friendly and relaxed diving for all levels of diver wanting to dive the stunning walls of Bunaken National Park, and the black sand muck diving of Manado Bay. The resort accommodates keen underwater photographers as easily as families in its spacious resorts and flexible dive schedules.

Meals

All meals are served buffet-style with a wide selection of choices at the al fresco dining area on the beachfront, (or inside if the weather is inclement). Cuisine is varied and combines a tantalizing mix of International and Asian flavours made using fresh local ingredients. The team of western trained chefs are able to cater for special dietary requirements upon request.

Resort Facilities

Photographers will love the dedicated, fully air-conditioned, camera room with personal preparation areas, bright lighting and plenty of sockets. There is also a flat-screen television for viewing marine life presentations and underwater videography.

Those still with energy after (or instead of) a day’s diving can make use of the free stand up paddleboards. Those with less can take to a sun lounger and enjoy the ocean view infinity pool. And those who need a recharge can head to the onsite ‘Nature Spa’ and enjoy a relaxing massage or a little pampering with a range of other treatments.

Murex Manado Bangka Dive Resort is family-friendly and can arrange childcare upon request. They have small-sized snorkeling masks and fins, junior life jackets for those who want to use the stand-up paddleboards, and even a rope swing. For younger children and babies we have a small selection of toys, high chairs and cots available on request in advance.

Dive Service

With 7 boats in the fleet, which range in size, Murex are able to offer flexible schedules and cater for private boat options as well as for larger groups of families and friends. Guests can start their day with a two dive trip to the Bunaken Marine Park which is just 35 minutes away, returning to the resort for lunch, followed by an optional third dive to explore Manado Bay. Alternatively, they can opt for a three dive safari trip with lunch served on the boat.

Murex dive boats are purpose-built for comfort and safety, and facilities onboard include shaded areas below and sun deck, toilets, non-slip steps, long ladders for easy boarding, cushioned seating, hot and cold refreshments, freshwater rinse tank for cameras, as well as, first aid kits, life jackets, emergency oxygen and spare equipment.

Please note that when diving in Bunaken Marine Park there is a (one-off) Marine Park entry fee of IDR 150,000 per diver/snorkeler.

Dive Sites

Manado Bay provides great coral and muck diving, whereas Bunaken National Park has impressive walls, points and corners.

The Murex House Reef is a perfect example of the black sand diving of Manado Bay. Up to a depth of 12m there is a coral slope with beautiful table corals and lots of macro subjects. Below 12m you will find a sandy slope with patches of corals and several artificial reef balls that are nicely overgrown with corals and sponges. Several underwater trails make it perfect to explore by yourself or with your buddy. Night diving is especially interesting and common sightings include Spanish dancers, starry night octopus and a host of other cephalopod species and crustaceans.

Bunaken Marine Park’s most famous dive sites are the Lekuan dive sites. These huge 40m walls are covered with enormous sponges, soft and hard corals and offer both macro and wide-angle opportunities. You will find swarms of pyramid butterflyfish, numerous green sea turtles resting on the ledges, reef sharks and an occasional eagle ray will pass by out in the blue. The walls are covered in barrel sponges, colourful hard and soft corals, and those keen on macro life will find pygmy sea horses, orang-utan crabs, nudibranchs and much more.
