Very similar to silver bream, but silver body has fine yellow spots in distinct rows. Forehead is more rounded than the silver bream, and black margin on tail is very thin.

Solid looking fish, with big head and bulky front of body. Silvery colour. Juveniles have bright blue spots over back and sides.

Classic silver perciform shape, but with notable black margin to dorsal fin, broad black edge to tail fin, and black spot at based of pectoral fin. Often yellow ventral and anal fins.
