We Think . .
Solitude Acacia Resort suits divers with a strong interest in macro life, blackwater diving, and structured dive programs supported by a well-equipped on-site centre. Its integration of photography facilities, specialty diving options, and proximity to Verde Island makes it appropriate for divers prioritising biodiversity and guided exploration over resort-style leisure travel.
Solitude Acacia Resort is located in Anilao, Batangas, on the southwestern edge of Luzon Island. Anilao sits within the Verde Island Passage, an area recognised for high marine biodiversity and varied underwater topography. Dive sites include shallow sandy muck areas, reef slopes, small walls, and deeper drift sites depending on conditions.
Diving is available year-round, with generally calmer seas between November and May. Verde Island is accessible by day trip when weather permits.

Diving Services at Solitude Acacia Anilao Resort
Diving at Solitude Acacia Anilao Resort is designed as a premium, highly personalised experience, with a strong focus on service, comfort, and efficiency. The on-site Acacia Dive Centre operates with an excellent 2:1 diver-to-guide ratio, ensuring every diver benefits from expert spotting and tailored dive plans. Facilities are first-class, including Nitrox, full rental gear, and support for more advanced diving. A standout feature is the purpose-built camera room with 28 individual workstations, dedicated rinse tanks, and camera-handling support—making it a favourite among underwater photographers. The resort also leads innovation in the region as the first in the Philippines to offer the Avelo Dive System, providing improved buoyancy control and reduced weighting for a more streamlined dive experience. Diving in Anilao
Anilao is widely regarded as one of the world’s premier muck diving destinations, and diving from Solitude Acacia puts you right at the heart of it. Just 15–30 minutes by boat from the resort, dive sites showcase an incredible diversity of marine environments—from volcanic black sand slopes and rubble fields to vibrant coral gardens and steep walls. The region’s reputation as the “critter capital” of the Philippines is well earned, with frequent sightings of nudibranchs, frogfish, ghost pipefish, rhinopias, and even blue-ringed octopus. Diving here typically consists of 2- or 3-tank boat dives daily, with options to tailor schedules around photography or specific marine life interests. With calm conditions and minimal current at many sites, Anilao is accessible to a wide range of divers, while still offering enough depth and variety to keep even the most experienced enthusiasts engaged.
Best Time to Dive
Diving is available year-round, with generally more stable sea conditions and better visibility from November to May. During this period, calmer weather allows more consistent access to offshore sites such as Verde Island. The June to October period may bring stronger winds and reduced visibility, though macro diving remains productive due to the sheltered nature of many sites.
Signature Dive Experiences & Sites
What sets Anilao apart is not just the quantity of marine life, but the unique dive experiences available, many of which are highlights for visiting dive clubs and photographers. Day dives focus on slow, deliberate exploration of muck sites where expert guides uncover rare and unusual species, while nearby reef and wall dives provide a colourful contrast with schooling fish and healthy corals. Night diving is a major draw, revealing an entirely different cast of marine life, while blackwater diving—one of Anilao’s signature experiences—offers the chance to encounter pelagic larvae and deep-sea species rising from the depths under cover of darkness.
Combined with consistently high biodiversity and year-round diving (with peak conditions from November to May), these signature experiences make Anilao one of the most compelling and repeat-worthy dive destinations in Southeast Asia.
