Diving Location Features

Diving at Umbi Sharks Bay Resort centres around its house reef, local Sharm El Sheikh sites, and nearby Red Sea dive regions including Ras Mohammed and Dahab. The house reef has pretty coral gardens and reef fish, while boat diving expands access to offshore reefs, walls, and wreck sites. Conditions suit a wide range of experience levels.

Dive Services

The onsite dive centre offers shore dives, RIB dives, and night dives. Daily boat trips depart approximately 7am from the resort’s private jetty, typically including two guided dives and lunch onboard, with an optional third dive available. Return times are generally between 16:00 and 17:00.

Five-day diving packages are available, covering sites within Ras Mohammed National Park and the Straits of Tiran. During summer months, late-afternoon trips may be scheduled to increase chances of encounters with hammerhead sharks at deeper offshore sites.

Refresher dives and scuba reviews are conducted on the house reef and PADI and SSI courses are offered, from entry-level programs through advanced and professional certifications. Training groups are limited in size, and classroom instruction is supported by direct access to calm, shallow reef conditions.

Straits of Tiran

Jackson Reef, Thomas Reef, Woodhouse Reef, and Gordon Reef feature strong currents, steep walls, and pelagic encounters. Sites such as Million Hope and Kormoran combine reef diving with wreck exploration.

Local Sharm El Sheikh Sites

Accessible daily dive locations include Ras Gamilla, Ras Nasrani, Sharks Bay, Far Garden, Near Garden, Middle Garden, White Knight, Ras Umm Sid, Temple, and Naama Bay. These sites offer coral gardens, slopes, and sheltered conditions.

Ras Mohammed National Park

Key sites include Shark and Yolanda Reefs, Anemone City, Jackfish Alley, Eel Garden, Ras Ghozlani, and Shark Observatory. The area is known for coral density, schooling fish, and current-driven marine life.

Wreck Diving & Offshore Routes

Regular trips are organised to historic wrecks such as SS Thistlegorm, Dunraven, and Million Hope, with additional access via liveaboard safaris to sites including Carnatic, Giannis D, Chrisoula K, and other wrecks in the region.

Dahab Region

Extended trips may include Dahab dive sites such as the Blue Hole, The Canyon, The Bells, Abu Galum, Gabr El Bint, and Ras Abu Helal.

Here's what our clients say about us!

  • I've been using these guys since 2008, and every single trip has been awesome. Only thing I need to worry is to get to airport in time. They have wide experience of dive destinations and there's always an option to pick. Strong recommendation!

  • The team at Diveplanit were tremendous help for my recent trip to Palau. The trip was a bit last minute, and bookings were filling up, so I appreciated Claire’s patience and first-hand knowledge as we tried to find the right combination of dates, flights and operators. Unsurprisingly, the trip was spectacular and ticked off multiple bucket list experiences.

  • I have been using Diveplanit for several years now and just recently on a liveaboard trip to Komodo where there was a change of port arrival and Claire helped with the air travel changes and all went smoothly. Superb trip and organisation. Highly recommend.

  • Michelle is a legend. I didn't know how difficult it could be to organise travel and diving in Vanuatu! Having been there, I can only wonder at the organisation and care that went into making my trip special. There was even a cancelled flight that meant a rearrangement of activities on a couple of days. But it all went seamlessly. I would highly recommend Diveplanit.

    Robert E

  • I'd like to thank the crew from Diveplanit, great communication and organisation. The Ocean Divers in Oakleigh, so welcoming and helpful. The Odyssey boat crew, catering and dive group, best holiday / adventure ever.

    Carolyn M

  • Michelle was fantastic in helping with my recent PNG excursion. I got straightforward and detailed advice, and nothing was too much trouble. I had some package tweaks after committing to the initial trip, but the changes were no problem. There's no question whom I'll contact for my next South Pacific itinerary.

    Jessica B

  • Had a fabulous trip diving at Ningaloo, all organised from the other side of the world by Claire at Diveplanit. When the airline cancelled my flights and I would’ve been stranded, she rescheduled them for me on a Sunday! That’s 7-star rating! 🙏 🥰
