Diving Cancun, dependent on the time of year, there are opportunities to dive with whale sharks and sailfish, with some of the world’s most reliable marine encounters and the nearby underwater sculpture park is fascinating to explore.

Between May and September the world’s largest aggregation of whale sharks occurs north of Isla Mujeres.

Isla Mujeres also features colourful coral reefs, several fascinating wrecks and a shark cave.

The MUSA, located next to Cancun, is an underwater contemporary museum of art consisting of over 500 permanent life-size sculptures from English artist Jason de Caires Taylor.

During December to February, large schools of sailfish congregate in the same place, pack-hunting sardine bait balls sardine-run style.
