The Oasis is a quiet beachfront resort located in southern Egypt, approximately 20 km north of Marsa Alam. Once a small fishing village, the region remains lightly developed compared to northern Red Sea destinations, with a noticeably calmer atmosphere both above and below the water. The resort appeals to divers and travellers seeking space, tranquillity, and direct access to high-quality Red Sea diving without crowds.
The resort and its dive centre are operated as a joint venture between Werner Lau Diving Centers and Sinai Divers, bringing together long-established Red Sea diving expertise and consistent operational standards. This partnership supports structured dive operations, professional training, and well-maintained facilities.

Resort Facilities & Meals
Meals are served in the main restaurant, with breakfast and dinner provided as buffet service and additional à la carte options available. The kitchen caters to a range of preferences, including vegetarian, fish, and meat dishes. Freshly baked bread is prepared daily, and meals are designed to suit active diving schedules.
The resort also features a sundowner bar overlooking the desert landscape, along with a Bedouin-style beach bar where guests can enjoy coffee, shisha, and occasional beachfront barbecues when conditions allow.
Activities
Outside of diving, guests can relax by the main swimming pool overlooking the Red Sea (there also a deeper pool dedicated to dive training). A small spa offers massage treatments and relaxation programs, while a compact on-site bazaar provides basic supplies and souvenirs.
Guided excursions into the surrounding Eastern Desert are available, including sunset trips, cultural visits, historical sites, and astronomy tours focused on stargazing in the desert environment.
Staying Connected
Mobile reception is limited due to the resort’s remote coastal location. Internet access may be available in common areas.
We Think . . .
The Oasis – Marsa Alam is best suited to divers and travellers prioritising access to uncrowded dive sites. Its focus on diving, desert landscapes, and simple comfort makes it a strong choice for those wanting a quieter Red Sea experience away from large resort developments.
The Oasis – Marsa Alam is situated directly on the Red Sea coast, set back from main roads and air traffic routes. The resort occupies spacious grounds along a long, undeveloped beach, contributing to its quiet atmosphere and unobstructed sea views.
How to Get There
Marsa Alam International Airport is approximately 25 minutes’ drive south of the resort. Hurghada International Airport is located around 270 kilometres north, with transfers taking roughly three hours along the coastal road. Transfers can also be arranged from Port Ghalib or other Red Sea harbours for guests arriving via liveaboard safari.
The resort consists of 49 individually designed chalets built in Nubian architectural style using natural materials. The layout resembles a small Bedouin village, with winding paths, stone steps, and low-level lighting that creates a subdued evening atmosphere.
Each chalet includes a main bedroom, spacious bathroom with shower, terrace with sea views, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, and minibar. Rooms are naturally cool due to construction design and are available with double or twin bedding. Every chalet offers an unobstructed view of the Red Sea from its terrace.
The Marsa Alam region is recognised as one of the Red Sea’s less crowded diving areas, with a mix of house reef diving, shore-based bays, and offshore reefs. Conditions range from gentle, shallow dives suitable for training to deep wall dives and current-affected sites for experienced divers.
Dive Services
The on-site dive centre is purpose-built and supports beginners, certified divers, and technical training. Equipment rental, storage, workshops, and transport logistics are handled by the dive centre staff. Nitrox is available, and aluminium 12-litre tanks with DIN and INT valves are standard.
Training is offered across multiple certification systems, with small group sizes maintained. Introductory dives, refresher courses, advanced certifications, and specialty training are available, including Nitrox and deep diving.
House Reef Diving
Directly in front of the dive centre lies a steep border reef accessed via a jetty. The reef slopes gradually before dropping sharply into deeper water. One house reef dive per day is included, with early morning and night dives commonly offered when sea conditions permit. Marine life regularly includes reef fish, turtles, rays, and occasional pelagic species.
One dive at the house reef per day is included in the dive packages for free. The first dive at the house reef is guided.

House Reef
The beautiful house reef (fringing reef) is right in front of our hotel and can be accessed from the jetty. You can dive or snorkel there from 6 o’clock in the morning to 8 o’clock in the evening. Starting from the jetty, you can dive to the north or to the south. It is a gently sloping reef coming to a drop- off into deep water.
The typical fish of the Red Sea as well as moray eels and turtles inhabit the beautiful hard and soft corals on the reef. Because of the north-south alignment, the so-called “aquatic road”, big fishes like Napoleon wrasses, dolphins and sharks visit our reef as well. Going for a night dive before dinner is a particularly nice experience. There you can observe the curiosities of the night. Our blue light torches transform the nocturnal underwater world during a “Fluo Dive” to a very special highlight.
Local Reefs & Bays
Most dives are conducted via short vehicle transfers to nearby bays and beaches, with travel times ranging from a few minutes to around one hour. These sites offer coral gardens, swim-throughs, caves, and varied reef topography.
Morning and afternoon the dive centre offers dive trips by jeep / bus to shore diving spots around “The Oasis” (each including one dive). The traveling time is between 5 minutes to a half hour. A “Super- Day” full day trip is also offered, south to the wreck “Hamada”, with three dives.
Boat Diving
Boat trips are regularly scheduled to well-known Red Sea sites such as Elphinstone Reef, Abu Dabbab, and Samadai Reef. These locations are known for walls, soft corals, pelagic sightings, and dolphin encounters, depending on conditions.
Our divers have a choice of 30 different dive sites from land and boat.
Marine Life
Across the dive area, sightings may include reef sharks, manta rays, turtles, dolphins, eagle rays, and dugongs, alongside healthy coral growth and diverse reef fish populations.
