Freedom III is a mid-sized Red Sea liveaboard operated by Umbi Sharks Bay Resort. With a maximum capacity of 20 guests and guaranteed departures from eight divers, it suits individuals, dive clubs, and private groups. The vessel runs structured itineraries across the northern Red Sea, offering up to three dives per day when conditions allow.

Resort Facilities & Meals
Onboard spaces are designed for extended dive operations with practical comfort between dives. Facilities include an air-conditioned saloon and dining area with TV, music system, small library and Wi-Fi when coverage permits. Meals are prepared daily and served buffet-style, with special dietary needs accommodated on request. Drinking water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, and snacks are available throughout the day.
Activities
Activities focus on scuba diving. Surface intervals are spent relaxing on the sundecks, logging dives, or preparing equipment. RIBs are carried onboard, allowing access to reefs and wrecks where anchoring is not possible.
Staying Connected
Freedom III operates in offshore areas where mobile reception is limited. Internet access is intermittent and dependent on signal availability. Guests should expect minimal connectivity during most itineraries.
We Think …
Freedom III is well suited to divers who value dive frequency, site variety, and smaller group sizes over luxury styling. Its capacity, flexible booking options, and integration with Sharks Bay Resort make it a practical option for Red Sea dive safaris.
Freedom III operates from Sharm El Sheikh, embarking via the private jetty at Umbi Sharks Bay Resort. From here, itineraries explore the northern Red Sea, including the Straits of Tiran, Ras Mohammed National Park, and offshore reefs accessible only by liveaboard.
How to Get There
Guests arrive via Sharm El Sheikh International Airport, with transfers to Sharks Bay Resort included. Embarkation begins at 20:00 on the first day, with dinner served onboard. There is no diving or sailing that evening. The vessel departs early the following morning. Disembarkation is at 12:00 on the final day after lunch and two dives.
Freedom III offers three cabin categories; all located on the lower deck.
King-Bed Cabins
Two cabins feature a king-size bed and provide additional space for couples or solo divers. These cabins are shareable and include climate control and en-suite facilities.
King-Bed Plus Two Single Cabins
One larger cabin includes a king-size bed and two single beds, making it suitable for families or small groups. The cabin has air-conditioning, a private bathroom, and shared occupancy options.
Twin-Bed Cabins
Six twin cabins are fitted with two single beds and are ideal for dive buddies or friends sharing accommodation. Each includes air-conditioning and an en-suite bathroom.
All cabins provide individual storage and essential amenities suitable for multi-day dive itineraries.
Diving aboard Freedom III follows the same operational standards used by Umbi Sharks Bay Resort. Daily schedules typically include three dives per day, with night dives offered when conditions allow. All dives are guided, with briefings conducted before each dive.
Dives are conducted from the main dive platform or via RIBs, depending on site requirements. The dive deck includes dedicated equipment storage, rinse tanks, showers, and toilets. Aluminium 12-liter tanks, weights, and weight belts are provided, with DIN and INT valves available.
The Red Sea offers year-round diving, with consistent temperatures and visibility often exceeding 30 m. Divers are required to hold Advanced Open Water certification (or equivalent) with a minimum of 30 logged dives. Nitrox is available for Nitrox-certified divers.
Dive Sites
Freedom III itineraries align with those offered by Sharks Bay Resort, covering key northern Red Sea regions.
Straits of Tiran
Jackson, Thomas, Woodhouse, and Gordon Reefs are known for strong currents, steep drop-offs, and large fish activity. Sites feature hard coral walls, schooling fish, reef sharks, and regular pelagic encounters.
Ras Mohammed National Park
Dives at Shark Reef, Yolanda Reef, Jackfish Alley, Anemone City, and Eel Garden offer dense coral growth, dramatic reef formations, and high fish density. These sites often combine reef exploration with drift diving.
Wreck Diving
Depending on itinerary and conditions, Freedom III may visit historic wrecks such as the SS Thistlegorm, Dunraven, and Million Hope. These dives combine structural exploration with thriving marine life and are suited to experienced recreational divers.
Local Sharm El Sheikh Reefs
Additional dives may include sites around Sharks Bay, Ras Nasrani, Ras Gamilah, and the Garden reefs, offering sheltered conditions, coral gardens, sandy channels, and resident reef species.
