Niue is a great place to explore the underwater space. There are lots of coves and rock pools to explore that are accessible from the shore, but some of the more enjoyable spots to snorkel in are from the boat. We often come across Niue’s resident spinner dolphins and the possibility of an in-water interaction with them makes the trip all the more enjoyable.
Niue lies on the migratory path of the Oceanic Humpback Whales. From July through to September they rest, calve, and breed in our waters. Explore Niue is a licensed operator that can take snorkelers out to observe the whales’ behaviour.
Tuaga Lodge is centrally located in Alofi, offering two open studio units and one two-bedroom studio unit. Units are self-catering with private ensuites, air conditioning in each room, WIFI, and TV. Laundry facilities are on-site for guests.

Snorkel Tours

There’s a wide range of fish and coral that can be seen because of the great visibility of water. Snorkel trips run for three hours and include all snorkelling gear, wetsuits, light refreshments and guide. We often come across Niue’s resident spinner dolphins and the possibility of an in-water interaction with them makes the trip all the more enjoyable.
Whale Watching & In-Water Experience

From impressive breaches, to spy hops, tail slaps and fin slaps each activity demonstrates an important part of the whale’s behaviour that can be observed from the boat. Every interaction is different and will depend on the whales’ behaviour. Your local guides will determine if an in-water interaction is possible, and it doesn’t have to be about getting in the water, being able to observe and photograph them from the boat is special for many.
Trips must be pre-booked. They run for four hours and include snorkel gear, a wetsuit, light refreshments, and a local guide.
