Okeanos Aggressor II is a 120-foot liveaboard operating from Puntarenas, Costa Rica, running extended dive trips to Cocos Island. The vessel accommodates up to 22 guests and is designed for long crossings and multi-day diving in a remote offshore setting.

Cocos Island is known for pelagic diving, especially large schools of sharks and open-water species. Trips include an offshore crossing followed by several days of diving around seamounts and island sites.

Resort / Vessel Facilities & Meals

The vessel includes a salon, shaded cocktail area, sun deck with loungers, bar, and grill. Each diver has a personal storage space, and the dive deck is equipped with 80 cubic foot tanks, weights, and both DIN and K-valve options.

Meals are served daily, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. The menu combines American-style dishes with local options. Soft drinks, coffee, tea, and a limited selection of beer and wine are included.

Activities

Diving is the main activity, with a planned schedule each day. Evenings may include fish identification talks, movies, or time spent relaxing on deck.

Staying Connected

Due to the remote location, internet and mobile signal are not available during most of the trip.

We Think . .

Okeanos Aggressor II suits divers looking for extended trips focused on pelagic encounters at Cocos Island, with consistent access to seamount sites and current-driven diving.

Okeanos Aggressor II operates from Puntarenas, Costa Rica, with trips focused on Cocos Island, located about 550 km offshore in the eastern Pacific. The area is known for strong currents and offshore formations that attract large marine life.

The remote setting means diving is centred on seamounts and rocky structures rather than coastal reefs.

Diving Location Features

Diving at Cocos Island is defined by seamounts, rocky pinnacles, and strong currents. Marine life includes large schools of sharks, rays, and other pelagic species. Conditions can change daily depending on current strength.

Dive Services

Diving is done from tenders, with multiple dives scheduled each day. Tanks, weights, and basic setup are provided. Divers are expected to follow safety procedures suited to offshore and current conditions.

Dive briefings are conducted before each dive, and equipment is stored in assigned spaces onboard.

Dive Sites

Dive sites around Cocos Island focus on offshore formations where currents bring in marine life.

  • Seamount & Cleaning Station Sites – Sites such as Bajo Alcyone are known for schooling hammerheads and regular pelagic activity.
  • Rock & Pinnacle Sites  – Sites including Dirty Rock and Dos Amigos feature rocky terrain, caves, and areas where sharks and large fish gather.
  • Reef & Sheltered Sites  – Areas such as Manuelita Inside offer calmer conditions and reef structures for easier dives.
  • Current & Blue Water Diving  – Many dives involve staying near formations or drifting with the current to observe passing pelagic species.

Okeanos Aggressor 1 liveaboard takes divers to Cocos Island in Costa Rica, one of the best places in the world for diving with hammerhead sharks and other pelagic marine life.

  • The team at Diveplanit were tremendous help for my recent trip to Palau. The trip was a bit last minute, and bookings were filling up, so I appreciated Claire’s patience and first-hand knowledge as we tried to find the right combination of dates, flights and operators. Unsurprisingly, the trip was spectacular and ticked off multiple bucket list experiences.

  • Michelle is a legend. I didn't know how difficult it could be to organise travel and diving in Vanuatu! Having been there, I can only wonder at the organisation and care that went into making my trip special. There was even a cancelled flight that meant a rearrangement of activities on a couple of days. But it all went seamlessly. I would highly recommend Diveplanit.
