It’s amazing what you can find a few metres off the beach – day or night on Kuata’s House Reef. A shore dive accessible to divers with all levels of dive experience … just walk off the beach. After swimming past the shallow wave break, we went down to about 7m and explored every little nook and cranny of this shallow coral garden. Kuata has lots of nudibranchs, large coral sea fans with the odd tiny shrimp hiding in the branches…
… banded coral shrimps, tiny crabs and lots of flowering coral.
A small black tip reef shark came to check us out a few times during the dive and we stumbled across a thorny stingray in the sand.
On the sandy bottom we found triton shells…
… a beautiful sea pen and a rather shy octopus.
