Second charter on sale now!
Due to the popularity of our first planned Coral Sea Foundation Expedition to the Whitsundays outer reef, we have booked a second charter, again in the optimum weather window, from 12-17 November 2021.
Our first charter sold out within a few weeks, so we recommend booking early to secure your space!
Explore the best of the Great Barrier Reef’s remote outer reefs in the Whitsunday sector, guided by the founder and Executive Director of the Coral Sea Foundation, Dr Andy Lewis. Andy will be leading a very small group of divers to reefs that were surveyed by Master Reef Guide Johnny Gaskell during last year’s Great Reef Census and found to have outstanding coral cover and diversity. Proceeds from the trip will support the work of the Coral Sea Foundation, including their award-winning Sea Women of Melanesia program.
You’ll be exploring these rarely-visited reefs sailing the MS Kiana, a 16.5m cutter rigged ketch that was launched in 1990. Purpose built as a charter sail and dive vessel no compromises were made in Kiana’s design and fit out.
The reefs you are likely to dive include Bait Reef, Tiger Reef, Kangaroo Reef and Secret Reef, which are on the outer continental shelf in very clear water. Johnny Gaskell personally travelled the entire length of the Great Barrier Reef in 2019 and 2020 has placed several of these reefs in his Top 10 list.
These very special trips are planned for late Nov, early Dec 2021, departing and returning to Airlie Beach.
